Patients or caregivers with experience relevant to the conference’s central theme actively participate in the design and planning of the event, including the selection of themes, topics and speakers

  • Patients and caregivers have been and still are included in the development of the EuHIC 2019 event, including the selection of themes, topics and speakers. These include Richard Stephens, Tony Pickering and Len Starnes.

Patients or caregivers with experience of the issues addressed by the event participate in its delivery, and appear in its physical audience.

  • Patients and caregivers are strongly encouraged to take part and attend EuHIC 2019.

  • Discounted tickets are available for bonafide patients, relatives and carers affected by significant chronic disease.

  • Patients taking part in the event's delivery. We aim to include more patients/caregivers as the programme is developed.

Travel and accommodation expenses for patients or carers participating in the advertised programme are paid in full, in advance. Scholarships are provided by the conference organisers to allow patients or carers affected by the relevant issues to attend as delegates.

  • The expenses (inclusive of economy travel and a local hotel for the duration of the event) of all patients/carers who are directly presenting at EuHIC 2019 will be covered in full and in advance of the event.

  • 20 free tickets are provided for patients or carers who have limited funds. In order to apply for these complimentary tickets, 'EuHIC supported patients' can be selected on the registration form here. Alternatively, click here to email Rob Davies.

  • Due to our relatively small budget we are unable to subsidise travel or accommodation for supported patients/carers.

The disability requirements of participants are accommodated. All applicable sessions, breakouts, ancillary meetings, and other programme elements are open to patient delegates.

  • The venue (St Giles-in-the-Fields) provides step-free access and the conference facilities are fully accessible. The entire programme is tailored towards patients and their presence is encouraged.

  • Special requirements (which can be requested on the registration form or via email) will be catered for.

Access for virtual participants is facilitated, with free streaming video provided online wherever possible.

  • We are looking into the possibility of video streaming EuHIC 2019 online, taking into consideration our not-for-profit collective with tight finances

  • We will however promote access for virtual patient participants, with an active Twitter presence, including the use of the hashtag #euhic3.

Patients Included charters

  • EuHIC 2019 is a 'Patients Included' accredited event.

  • Patients Included charters provides conference organisers with the ability to demonstrate that an event observes patients as 'experts in living with their condition', whilst also ensuring they are not excluded or  exploited. The website can be found here: https://patientsincluded.org/

  • A conference successfully meeting all five of the charter’s clauses may accredit itself as a Patients Included event. The five clauses and how EuHIC 2019 complies with them are seen below:
